About this recipe

Pear cocoa crumble is a dessert of tender pears baked beneath a crisp cocoa topping made with flour, sugar, and plant-based butter. The pears become sweet and juicy as they bake, while cocoa gives the crumble a deeper flavor. The plant-based butter binds the ingredients into crumbs that brown in the oven. Cut the pears into distinct pieces so they do not disappear beneath the topping.

Ingredients

Servings: 6

  • 4 pears

  • 120 g all-purpose flour

  • 80 g plant-based butter

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 40 g sugar

Steps

  1. Peel the pears or wash them thoroughly, remove the cores, and cut the fruit into cubes.

  2. Transfer the diced pears to a baking dish and spread them in an even layer.

  3. Rub the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and plant-based butter together with your fingertips to form an uneven cocoa crumble.

  4. Sprinkle the crumble over the fruit and bake the pear cocoa crumble at 180°C for 25–35 minutes.

  5. Serve after cooling briefly, when the pears are tender and their juices are thicker.
