About this recipe

Plum crumble is an oven-baked fruit dessert with juicy plums beneath a simple topping made from flour, sugar, and plant-based butter. As they bake, the plums become soft, slightly tart, and more intense in flavor, while cinnamon deepens their aroma. Rub the topping between your fingers into uneven crumbs so it bakes up crisp rather than compact. The dessert is best after a brief rest, when the plum juices have thickened slightly.

Ingredients

Servings: 6

  • 500 g plums

  • 120 g all-purpose flour

  • 80 g plant-based butter

  • 50 g sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps

  1. Wash, pit, and cut the plums into halves or quarters.

  2. Mix the plums with 20 g of the sugar and the cinnamon, then transfer to a baking dish.

  3. Rub the flour, the remaining 30 g of sugar, and the plant-based butter between your fingers until small and larger clumps form.

  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit and bake the plum crumble at 180°C for 25–35 minutes.

  5. Serve after cooling briefly, once the plum juices stop bubbling vigorously.
