About this recipe

Apple crumble is a warm dessert with cinnamon-spiced apples and a topping made from all-purpose flour, plant-based butter, and sugar. As the apples bake, they soften and release their juices, while the crumble forms a crisp, sweet layer on top. Cinnamon brings out the classic apple flavor and gives the dessert a homey character. Serve after a brief rest, while the fruit is still warm and the topping is crisp.

Ingredients

Servings: 6

  • 3 apples

  • 120 g all-purpose flour

  • 80 g plant-based butter

  • 50 g sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps

  1. Peel the apples or leave the skins on, remove the cores, and dice the fruit.

  2. Mix the apples with 10 g of the sugar and the cinnamon, then transfer them to a baking dish.

  3. Rub the flour, the remaining 40 g of sugar, and the plant-based butter together with your fingertips until a loose, uneven crumble forms.

  4. Sprinkle the crumble over the fruit and bake the apple crumble at 180°C for 25–35 minutes.

  5. Serve after cooling briefly, when the apple juices have thickened slightly.
