About this recipe

Honey-mustard chicken with potatoes is an oven-baked dinner with drumsticks, a sweet-and-sharp marinade, and potatoes. Mustard brings bold flavor, honey adds light sweetness, and the potatoes absorb the flavors of the meat and the pan juices. There is no need to make a separate side because everything bakes together in one baking dish or on a sheet pan. This practical chicken-and-potato recipe works well for a substantial family dinner.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 4 chicken drumsticks

  • 500 g potatoes

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 tablespoon oil

Steps

  1. Preheat a conventional oven (no fan) to 200°C. Cut the potatoes into approximately 2 cm cubes.

  2. Mix the mustard with the honey and 1 teaspoon of the oil, then coat the drumsticks thoroughly with the marinade. Toss the potatoes with the remaining oil.

  3. Arrange the drumsticks and potatoes in a single layer on a large sheet pan, leaving space between the pieces. Bake on the middle rack for 40–50 minutes.

  4. After about 25 minutes, turn the potatoes and drumsticks. Continue baking until the skin is browned, the meat near the bone is cooked through, and the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.

  5. Divide the drumsticks and potatoes into four portions and serve immediately.
