About this recipe

Apple cinnamon infusion is a mild drink made with apple, a small piece of cinnamon stick, an orange slice, and honey. Apple lends delicate sweetness, cinnamon contributes a warm spice aroma, and orange adds citrus fragrance without sharp acidity. Slice the apple thinly so it infuses the hot water more quickly. Stir in the honey after the drink cools slightly to round out the flavor without using prepared syrup.

Ingredients

Servings: 2

  • 500 ml water

  • 1/2 apple

  • a small piece of cinnamon stick

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 orange slice

Steps

  1. Wash and core the apple, then thinly slice one half. Prepare the orange slice and a small piece of cinnamon stick.

  2. Place the apple, orange, and cinnamon in a pitcher or large mug. Pour in hot water and cover so the cinnamon aroma does not escape with the steam.

  3. Steep for 7–8 minutes, until the apple softens slightly and the water develops a fruity, warm-spice aroma. If the cinnamon becomes too strong, remove it before serving.

  4. Add the honey once the infusion is no longer boiling hot, and stir. Serve with the apple slices, or strain for a clearer drink.
