About this recipe
Chocolate iced coffee is a cold drink made with espresso, milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and ice. Cocoa powder adds a dessert-like flavor without replacing the coffee, so the espresso still comes through clearly. Maple syrup softens the bitterness and pairs well with the milk, especially when the cocoa is first stirred into the warm espresso. This is a good recipe for homemade iced coffee with a chocolate profile, without cream or ready-made mixes.
Ingredients
Servings: 1
1 shot of espresso
200 ml milk
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
ice cubes
1 teaspoon maple syrup
Steps
Brew the espresso and immediately stir in the cocoa powder while the coffee is still warm. This helps the cocoa blend into the drink.
Set the coffee aside for 10–15 minutes to cool. In a separate glass or shaker, combine the milk and maple syrup.
Add ice cubes to a tall glass, pour in the milk mixture, then add the cooled cocoa-espresso mixture. Stir vigorously or shake briefly in a shaker.
Serve immediately, before the ice dilutes the coffee too much. If the cocoa begins to settle on the bottom, stir again.
