About this recipe

Iced banana coffee is a creamy iced coffee made with espresso, milk, banana, cocoa powder, and ice cubes. The banana adds natural sweetness and thickens the drink, cocoa powder gives it a lightly dessert-like character, and the espresso leaves a distinct coffee flavor. It is best to use cooled espresso so the ice does not melt right away and dilute the whole drink. This recipe works well for iced coffee when you want to combine an energizing base with mild, fruity creaminess.

Ingredients

Servings: 1

  • 1 shot espresso

  • 1/2 banana

  • 180 ml milk

  • ice cubes

  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder

Steps

  1. Brew the espresso and pour it into a small cup so it cools more quickly. Do not pour hot coffee directly over ice, or the drink will become diluted right away.

  2. Pour the milk into a blender, then add the banana and cocoa powder. Blend briefly, until the banana is fully blended into the milk and no dry lumps of cocoa remain.

  3. Add the cooled espresso and a few ice cubes. Blend only briefly, so the coffee becomes cold and creamy but not watery.

  4. Serve immediately after making. If the banana thickens the drink after a few minutes, stir the coffee before drinking.
