About this recipe

Watermelon lemonade is a chilled drink made with watermelon, lemons, water, honey, and ice. Watermelon contributes plenty of juice, gentle sweetness, and a light melon aroma, while the lemons bring the acidity it needs. This recipe uses less honey than many lemonades because ripe watermelon balances the flavor on its own. First mash or briefly blend the watermelon with the lemon juice, then dilute the mixture with water.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 250 g watermelon

  • 2 lemons

  • 1 liter water

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • ice cubes

Steps

  1. Cut the watermelon into cubes and remove the seeds if they are large. Halve the lemons and squeeze out the juice.

  2. Blend or thoroughly mash the watermelon with the honey and lemon juice. The watermelon will release a lot of juice, so do not add all the water right away.

  3. Pour the watermelon base into a pitcher, then add the water and ice cubes. Stir until the lemonade is light and evenly pink.

  4. Serve well chilled. If the watermelon leaves a lot of pulp, strain the drink through a sieve before adding the ice.
