About this recipe

Lemon-mint lemonade is a classic chilled drink made with lemons, water, honey, fresh mint, and ice. The lemons bring bright acidity, the honey softens the sharp lemon juice, and the mint adds a fresh herbal aroma. Stir the honey thoroughly into some of the water before adding the lemon juice. This distributes the sweetness evenly, with none settling at the bottom of the pitcher.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 2 lemons

  • 1 liter water

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • a few mint leaves

  • ice cubes

Steps

  1. Wash the lemons thoroughly, halve them, and squeeze out the juice. Gently bruise a few mint leaves between your palms to release their aroma, but do not mash them.

  2. In a pitcher, stir the honey into a small amount of water until dissolved. Add the lemon juice and the prepared mint.

  3. Pour in the remaining cold water, stir, and add the ice cubes. Let the lemonade stand for a few minutes so the mint infuses the lemon base.

  4. Taste the lemonade before serving. If the lemons are very tart, stir once more so the honey mellows the flavor evenly.
