About this recipe
Lime lemonade is crisper and slightly more bitter than classic lemon lemonade. Limes bring an intense citrus aroma, honey balances their acidity, and mint adds a cool, fresh note. Mix the lime juice with the honey and some of the water before adding the rest. Serve the lemonade very cold over ice, when the lime flavor is most pronounced.
Ingredients
Servings: 4
3 limes
1 liter water
2 tablespoons honey
ice cubes
a few mint leaves
Steps
Wash and halve the limes, then squeeze out the juice. Gently bruise the mint leaves to release their fresh aroma without drawing out bitterness.
In a pitcher, stir the honey into some of the water, then add the lime juice. Stir until the sweetness is evenly blended into the tart base.
Pour in the remaining water, then add the mint and ice cubes. Stir briefly so the herbs do not break down too much.
Serve well chilled. Lime has a more pronounced, slightly bitter note from the peel than lemon, so taste the drink once more before pouring.
