About this recipe
This cranberry and clove infusion is an aromatic drink made with dried cranberries, cloves, lemon, and honey. Cranberries contribute sweet-tart fruit flavor, cloves add warm spice, and lemon provides fresh contrast. Stir in the honey only after the infusion cools slightly so it does not overpower the fruit and spices. Serve it warm on a cool day, or strain and chill it for a bolder cold fruit drink.
Ingredients
Servings: 2
500 ml water
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
2 cloves
1 teaspoon honey
1 lemon slice
Steps
Place the dried cranberries in a mug or pitcher and add the cloves. If the fruit is very dry, lightly crush it so it releases its flavor more quickly.
Pour hot water over the cranberries and cloves, cover, and let stand for 6–8 minutes, until the infusion develops color and a warm-spice aroma.
Add the lemon slice only after steeping for a fresher, less bitter drink. For a lighter texture, strain the infusion through a fine-mesh strainer.
Once the drink cools slightly, stir in the honey. Serve immediately, or chill after straining for a cold fruit drink.
