About this recipe
Masala chai is an aromatic Indian tea simmered with milk, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. It is prepared in one saucepan, allowing the black tea to take on the spices’ intense flavor while the milk gives it a mild, creamy consistency. Serve it hot and strained into cups, preferably for breakfast or on a chilly afternoon. Adjust the amount of sugar to taste.
Ingredients
300 ml water
250 ml milk
2 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea or 2 bags black tea
4 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
2 cm fresh ginger, thinly sliced
1 cinnamon stick
2 teaspoons sugar
Steps
Strain the masala chai through a fine-mesh sieve into two cups, removing the tea and spices. Serve immediately while the drink is hot and intensely aromatic.
