About this recipe

Ham and cheese crescents are a quick snack made with puff pastry, egg, oregano, and a savory filling. The ham and cheese create a classic salty filling, while the oregano adds a simple herbal aroma. Once baked, the puff pastry turns golden and crisp, so the crescents are best served after cooling briefly. Brushing them with egg helps create a more appetizing color. These puff pastry crescents work well for a gathering, dinner, or a warm snack.

Ingredients

Servings: 2

  • 1 sheet puff pastry

  • 80 g ham

  • 80 g cheese

  • 1 egg

  • a pinch of oregano

Steps

  1. Preheat a conventional oven (no fan) to 200°C and position a rack in the middle. Cut the puff pastry into even triangles.

  2. Place the ham, cheese, and a little oregano on the wider end of each triangle, leaving a clear border.

  3. Roll up the crescents from the wider end toward the tip, place them seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and brush with beaten egg.

  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the pastry has risen noticeably and is evenly golden, including on the bottom.
