About this recipe

Red bean and bell pepper spread is a plant-based snack with olive oil, garlic, and smoked paprika, well suited to bread or vegetables. Once blended, the red beans make a thick, filling base, while fresh bell pepper adds a slightly sweet flavor and color. Smoked paprika brings a deeper, more savory aroma, so the spread does not taste flat despite the short ingredient list. If the mixture is too thick, add a little water while blending. This is a good recipe for a sandwich spread, a dip for vegetables, or a simple lunchbox snack.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 1 can red beans

  • 1/2 red bell pepper

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 garlic clove

  • a pinch of smoked paprika

To serve

  • raw vegetable sticks or bread

Steps

  1. Drain the beans and cut the bell pepper into smaller pieces.

  2. Add the garlic, olive oil, and smoked paprika.

  3. Blend everything into a spreadable paste; if needed, add 1–2 tablespoons of water.

  4. Taste, season, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
