About this recipe

Roasted chickpeas with smoked paprika are a crunchy snack seasoned with olive oil, salt, and garlic. Dry the chickpeas thoroughly after draining so the oil and seasonings coat the surface evenly. Smoked paprika gives them a deep, lightly smoky flavor, while garlic reinforces their savory character. Once roasted, they work well for snacking, packing into a lunchbox, or adding crunch to a salad. This simple version has a bolder flavor than chickpeas seasoned only with salt and pepper.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 1 can of chickpeas

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • a pinch of salt

  • a pinch of garlic

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C on the convection setting and position a rack in the middle. Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then dry them very thoroughly with a towel.

  2. Toss the chickpeas with the olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and garlic.

  3. Spread the chickpeas loosely in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  4. Roast for 20–25 minutes, stirring after about 12 minutes, until the chickpeas are browned and dry on the surface.

  5. Cool uncovered on the baking sheet in a single layer for 5 minutes; serve once the steam has escaped and the chickpeas are crisp.
