About this recipe
Coffee oatmeal with banana is a warm, filling breakfast for anyone who enjoys a gentle coffee flavor in the morning. Oats cooked in milk make a creamy base, banana adds natural sweetness, and instant coffee and cocoa give the oatmeal a deeper, slightly dessert-like character. Cook the oatmeal over low heat and stir it often so it does not stick to the bottom. Chopped nuts provide a pleasant contrast to the soft texture and add crunch. Serve immediately after cooking, while the oatmeal is still warm and creamy.
Ingredients
Servings: 1
80 g rolled oats
250 ml milk
1 banana
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon instant coffee
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 tablespoon chopped nuts
Steps
Slice the banana, setting some aside for the top and keeping the rest to warm briefly with the oatmeal.
Heat the milk with the salt and butter until the butter melts and the milk begins to steam gently. Stir in the oats and immediately reduce the heat.
Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring along the bottom of the pot, until the oats soften and form a thick base for the cocoa, coffee, and banana.
Stir in the instant coffee, cocoa, and most of the banana. Cook for about 1 minute more.
Transfer to a bowl, add the remaining banana, sprinkle with the nuts, and serve immediately.
