About this recipe

Almond milk with cocoa is a warm drink made with almond milk, cocoa powder, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. Cocoa powder gives it a distinct, lightly dessert-like flavor, the almond milk provides a delicate base, and vanilla and cinnamon add a pleasant aroma. It is best to stir in the honey near the end of heating so it blends gently with the cocoa. This is a good alternative to classic milk-based hot cocoa, especially when you want a mild almond-chocolate profile.

Ingredients

Servings: 2

  • 300 ml almond milk

  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • a pinch of vanilla

  • a pinch of cinnamon

Steps

  1. Pour 300 ml of almond milk into a saucepan and heat over low heat.

  2. Mix the cocoa with a few tablespoons of the warm almond milk, then add the honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. Stir until the cocoa no longer forms lumps.

  3. Combine the cocoa mixture with the remaining almond milk and heat slowly. Do not boil vigorously, so the almond milk retains its delicate aroma.

  4. Serve immediately after heating, when the cocoa is smooth and the cinnamon is lightly noticeable. Stir once more before pouring the cocoa made with almond milk into a mug.
