About this recipe
Milk with honey and ginger is a warming drink made with milk, fresh ginger, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. The ginger adds a distinct, mildly spicy note, cinnamon enhances the spiced aroma, and vanilla softens the overall flavor. It is best to stir in the honey after taking the milk off the heat so it retains its pleasant flavor and does not overpower the spices. This is a simple drink for a cooler day or evening, when you want to make something warm, milky, and more aromatic than plain milk.
Ingredients
Servings: 1
300 ml milk
about a 2 cm piece of fresh ginger
1 teaspoon honey
a pinch of cinnamon
a pinch of vanilla
Steps
Pour the milk into a small saucepan and begin heating it over low heat. Peel the ginger and slice it thinly or finely grate it, depending on how strong you want the flavor to be.
Add it to the milk along with the cinnamon and vanilla, and save the honey for the end.
Heat the milk with the ginger for 4–5 minutes over low heat so it develops a more pronounced aroma. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the honey.
Pour the drink into a mug. If you want a smoother texture, strain out the ginger. Serve warm while the spices are still clearly noticeable.
