About this recipe
Hot chocolate is a thick, milky drink made with dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, and cinnamon. The dark chocolate gives it a deep flavor, the cocoa intensifies the chocolate notes, and the vanilla and cinnamon add a mild, warming aroma. It is best to heat everything gently, without bringing it to a vigorous boil, so the chocolate melts evenly and combines with the milk. This is a good recipe for homemade hot chocolate when you want a fuller flavor than regular cocoa.
Ingredients
Servings: 2
300 ml milk
40 g dark chocolate
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
a pinch of vanilla
a pinch of cinnamon
Steps
Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat it slowly over low heat. Meanwhile, chop the dark chocolate so it melts more quickly into the milk base.
Add the chopped dark chocolate to the warm milk along with the cocoa, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk until the cocoa begins to disperse into the milk base.
Heat over low heat until the chocolate has completely melted and the drink becomes smooth and slightly thick. Do not bring it to a vigorous boil.
Pour the hot chocolate into a mug when it is smooth and glossy. Briefly stir before serving so the cinnamon does not settle at the bottom.
