About this recipe
This hibiscus and orange infusion is a bold, deeply colored drink made with hibiscus tea bags, orange slices, honey, and a pinch of cinnamon. Hibiscus creates a tart fruit-and-floral base, orange adds citrus aroma, and cinnamon contributes a subtle warm-spice note. Add the honey after steeping to soften the tartness without masking the hibiscus. Serve the infusion warm, or strain and chill it for a cold drink.
Ingredients
Servings: 2
500 ml water
2 hibiscus tea bags
2 orange slices
1 teaspoon honey
a pinch of cinnamon
Steps
Place the hibiscus tea bags in a pitcher or large mug. Add the orange slices and a pinch of cinnamon.
Pour hot water over the ingredients and steep, covered, for 5–7 minutes. The hibiscus should release a deep color and a distinct tart aroma.
Remove the tea bags so the infusion does not become too strong. You can leave the orange slices in a little longer or remove them if the peel starts to add bitterness.
Once slightly cooled, stir in the honey. Serve warm, or strain and chill if you want a tart cold fruit drink.
