About this recipe

Iced tea with mint and lime is a light drink made with green tea, fresh mint, lime, honey, and ice. Green tea is milder than black tea, so it pairs well with the herbal aroma of mint and tart lime. Honey rounds out the flavor, while the drink remains refreshing. Steep the tea briefly and add the mint only after it has cooled so the mint does not become bitter.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 2 green tea bags

  • 1 lime

  • 800 ml water

  • a few mint leaves

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • ice cubes

Steps

  1. Steep the green tea for 2–3 minutes and remove the tea bags. Let the tea cool until it is no longer hot before adding the mint.

  2. Wash the lime and squeeze out the juice, then gently bruise the mint between your hands. Do not crush the leaves because they may give the drink a bitter taste.

  3. Add the honey, lime juice, and mint to the cooled tea. Chill for 30–45 minutes so the herbal aroma blends into the tea.

  4. Serve with ice cubes. If the mint remains in the pitcher for a long time, remove it before storing the tea to preserve the drink's fresh taste.
