About this recipe

Lemon iced tea is a classic homemade drink made with black tea, lemon, honey, and ice. Lemon gives it a fresh, tart profile, while black tea provides a stronger base than water and juice alone. Steep the tea briefly and wait until it has cooled slightly before adding the honey. This keeps the flavor clean and refreshing without the need for premade syrup.

Ingredients

Servings: 4

  • 2 black tea bags

  • 1 lemon

  • 800 ml water

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • ice cubes

Steps

  1. Steep the black tea for 3–4 minutes, then remove the tea bags before the brew becomes too astringent. Let the tea cool for a few minutes.

  2. Wash the lemon thoroughly. Squeeze some of its juice into the tea, and reserve a few thin slices for the pitcher.

  3. Stir the honey into the slightly warm tea until dissolved. Add the lemon, then refrigerate until chilled.

  4. Serve with ice cubes and lemon slices. If the drink sits for a while, remove the peel-on slices before they release too much bitterness.
