About this recipe

These baked button mushrooms stuffed with cheese are a warm snack made with chives, butter, and pepper. The caps hold the filling, while chopping the stems uses the whole mushroom without waste. The cheese softens and browns lightly in the oven, while chives add a fresh aroma. Butter enhances the mushroom flavor and gives the filling a bolder taste. Serve them as a light dinner or a snack for a gathering.

Ingredients

Servings: 6

  • 12 button mushrooms

  • 80 g cheese

  • 1 tablespoon chives

  • 1 teaspoon butter

  • a pinch of pepper

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C on the conventional setting (no fan) and position a rack in the middle. Clean the button mushrooms, gently twist out the stems, and finely chop them.

  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped stems for 4–5 minutes, until their liquid has evaporated. Remove from the heat and mix with the cheese, chives, and pepper.

  3. Fill the button mushroom caps and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  4. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the caps are tender and the cheese is fully melted and lightly browned.
