About this recipe

Hummus and cucumber toasts are a plant-based snack made with crisp bread, hummus, fresh cucumber, sesame seeds, and sweet paprika. Hummus provides a creamy, filling base, while cucumber adds lightness and fresh crunch. Sesame seeds reinforce the spread’s nutty note, and paprika gives everything a warmer, gently spiced flavor. Toast the bread and let it cool briefly so the hummus does not become too runny on a hot slice. These quick hummus toasts work well in a lunchbox, for dinner, or as a small meat-free snack.

Ingredients

Servings: 2

  • 4 slices of bread

  • 4 tablespoons hummus

  • 1/2 cucumber

  • a pinch of sweet paprika

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Steps

  1. Toast the bread slices in a dry skillet or in a toaster.

  2. When they have cooled slightly, spread them with hummus.

  3. Slice the cucumber thinly, arrange it on top, and sprinkle with sweet paprika and sesame seeds.

  4. Serve right away so the bread stays crisp.
