About this recipe
Peanut butter and cocoa bars are a homemade snack made with rolled oats, dates, sunflower seeds, and cocoa powder. The dates bind the mixture and add natural sweetness, while the peanut butter makes it creamy and gives it a pronounced nutty flavor. Cocoa balances the sweetness and gives the bars chocolate flavor without using chocolate. Sunflower seeds add crunch, and rolled oats make the snack more substantial. The bars work well in a lunchbox, after a workout, or as a sweet snack between meals.
Ingredients
Servings: 6
180 g rolled oats
4 tablespoons (80 g) peanut butter
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
160 g soft pitted dates
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
Steps
Cover the dates with hot water for 10 minutes, then drain them very thoroughly.
Blend the dates with the peanut butter and cocoa powder into a thick, smooth paste.
Add the oats and sunflower seeds, mix thoroughly, then transfer the mixture to a 20 × 20 cm pan lined with parchment paper and press it down firmly.
Chill for at least 30 minutes, until the mixture is noticeably firm, then cut it into 6 equal bars.
